I got a call from ABC 33/40 to do a segment on how I save money by using coupons!! They will be coming out Monday May 11, 2009 to film. I am a little nervous and VERY excited to be able to share with people how my family has been blessed and I have been able to bless others with using coupons. We have saved thousands of dollars and am able to have a little stock pile that we use as well as give to others in need from. Don't know yet when it will air but when I find out I will let you know.

Woman and A Fork!

There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things 'in order,' she contacted her Pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes.

She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in.

Everything was in order and the Pastor was preparing to leave when the young woman suddenly remembered something very important to her. 'There's one more thing,' she said excitedly.

'What's that?' came the Pastor's reply.

'This is very important,' the young woman continued. 'I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand.'

The Pastor stood looking at the young woman, not knowing quite what to say.

'That surprises you, doesn't it?' the young woman asked.

'Well, to be honest, I'm puzzled by the request,' said the Pastor.

The young woman explained. 'My grandmother once told me this story, and from that time on I have always tried to pass along its message to those I love and those who are in need of encouragement.. In all my years of attending socials and dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someo ne would inevitably lean over and say, 'Keep your fork.' It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming...like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and with substance!'

So, I just want people to see me there in that casket with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder 'What's with the fork?' Then I want you to tell them: 'Keep your fork ..the best is yet to come.'

The Pastor's eyes welled up with tears of joy as he hugged the young woman good-bye. He knew this would be one of the last times he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the young woman had a better grasp of heaven than he did. She had a better grasp of what heaven would be like than many people twice her age, with twice as much experience and knowledge. She KNEW that something better was coming.

At the funeral people were walking by the young woman's casket and they saw the cloak she was wearing and the fork in her right hand. Over and over, the Pastor heard the question, 'What's with the fork?' And over and over he smiled .

During his message, the Pastor told the people of the conversation he had with the young woman shortly before she died. He also told them about the fork and about what it symbolized to her. He told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either.

He was right. So the next time you reach down for your fork let it remind you, ever so gently, that t he best is yet to come.

My sister and brother-in-law have a big Honda bike. It has all the bells and whistles. Gorgeous bike. My nephew is talking about getting himself one if he can convince his wife. Alterations and Coupons!

I am staying pretty busy right now with doing alterations and I am really enjoying have that little bit of extra cash. A little bit goes a long way when you are a frugal shopper. I just wish I had opened my eyes to using coupons like I do now, years ago. I LOVE it! I get great satisfaction knowing that I can bring home the groceries and other things we need and want for what little I pay for them. Stretching the old dollar is very important these days with the economy in the shape it is in and not knowing what is around the corner.

Believe it or not, there is such thing as ........CHEAP ink cartridges! I have discovered a web-site
where you can get ink cartridges.......cheap. I use alot of ink in my printer because as you all know, I am a Coupon Queen, and I print alot of coupons on-line. Ink is expensive so I am all into finding a bargain on ink for my printer. Go here to check them out. It advertises to be able to save you 50 to 70% off the cost of your printer ink cartridges. I'm gonna try them out.

More CVS!!

I went by CVS last night on the way home from a fitting for a alteration job and I hit the jackpot. I found 3 of the Mylanta that was on clearance for $3.65, I had 3 of the $2.00 off manufacture coupons so I paid $5.83 out of pocket and received $9 ECB. Profit of $3.17. I had also received a $1.50 off any CVS feminine care product so I picked up a box of Femine Wipes for $2.49 and 23 Russell Stovers Sugar Free marshmallow hearts at 50% off. The total was $10.54. I used the $1.50 CVS coupon, the $9 ECB so then my out of pocket was $.04. I LOVE IT!!!

Between CVS, Walgreens and Target Clearanced Valentine candy I am set for awhile.

"Promises" Rehab Centers

I have never had any substance abuse problems and I have never had anyone in my circle of friends or family that have had any substance abuse problems either that I am aware of. If I did or if I knew of anyone who needed some help with these overwhelming problems I would recommend this place I found on the internet called "PROMISES" which is a drug and alcohol rehab facility. A really nice place to go where you can go and seek treatment with addiction to a variety of drugs and substances, including: Alcohol, Cocaine, Codeine, Heroin, Marijuana, Methamphetamine, Oxycodone, and many others.
They are have center in Malibu and one in West L.A. These places are GORGEOUS! I would like to just go there to chill out for a week or two.

Christmas Present from my Talented husband.

See how HAPPY I am! Danny, my super talented husband, asked me what I wanted for Christmas. Well, he's business is Ornamental Iron and I told him I wanted him to build me a headboard for our kingsize bed. We've never had one and I want something that he built with his own two hands. He told me to design it and he would build it and ........HE DID!!

Here she is with my new Quilt bedspread that Santa paid for. It is called Peach Garden!

Here's a better view of the headboard. She weighs almost 200 lbs and is bolted to the wall. I wanted it the color of Pewter but it looks more like Battleship Gray which I'm not too fond of. We are going to paint it a Antique White more like French Vanilla and I will antique it. I want it to look like it's a 100 years old. I LOVE old things; antiques! I am also going to be looking for two old bedside tables to go on each side of the bed.

The car that I use to own that I miss the most was my Buick LeSabre. She was gorgeous. Best riding and driving car ever. I found this great website that specializes in supercharging your cars. I would have Danny look into a buick supercharger. I love the way Buick rolls off the tongue. Sounds rich!!

Crystal and I went to JCPenny today for me to return a Quilt/Bedspread that I had bought the day after Christmas because I found it online for about half the price even after shipping and taxes. While there Crystal got a call from one of our favorite tipsters, Jamie, with a HOT 90% off all Christmas Items sale at Walgreen's so after stopping for some lunch we headed to Walgreens. This is what I came home with. I saved $30.00 plus on the bedspread so I spent it at Walgreens. This is $359.26 worth of merchandise for .............$36.22!!

A New Year's Priority for ME!!

I have got to get me some NEW eyeglasses and after Christmas that will be the first thing I buy for myself. I am very frugal and I will search out the best deals. I heard about Optical4Less and they are having a overstock eyeglasses cheap sale. They have some that are as low as $15.00 a pair. For that price I can get several. I've always wanted a pair of RED eyeglasses. I found this pair on their site that I would like to have made into prescription sunglasses. I have cataracts and I need some of those really bad. My eyeglasses normally cost anywhere from $400 to $600 a pair. I have to have special lens because mine are really thick plus I wear the progressive bifocals and they raise the price as well. I think I will be able to get several pair of prescription eyeglasses from Optical4Less and still save ALOT of money and with the economy in the shape it is in, I am all for that.

When I order I will also go ahead and get my husband a couple pair of their Bifocal Reading Glasses. He is always losing his and the ones with the bifocal are hard to find.

Strange Weather!

Last week we were having some days in the 40's and evening in the 20's and today it was around 70 and MUGGY!! It is now 12:54am and I am watching wall to wall weather coverage on 33/40.
We are under a Tornado Warning and I will not be going to bed until she is over. I will be PRAYING her back up into the atmosphere. Tomorrow is suppose to rain all day, Thursday they say possible snow flurries and then towards the first of the week back up in the 60's.
Don't know how to dress day to day. No wonder everybody is sick.

For the past several years I used a white pre-lite outdoors tree for my Christmas Tree. It had white lights and no needles and I LOVED it because all my ornaments could be displayed without being hidden from the needles. Well........she bite the dust. Lights wouldn't work so I trashed her. This year I pulled this tree out from the back of the closet and set it up and all my ornaments are crammed on it with a couple strands of lights and I am NOT in love with it. I MISS my white tree with no needles.
My Dream Tree would be one of those Upside Down trees. Hopefully I will be able to find one really cheap after Christmas. I don't pay full price for ANYTHING! Too bad I can't get one at CVS with ECB's!!!
I collect Christmas Mice ornaments and I have also started a collection of Snowmen and Santas. I LOVE Christmas ornaments.
Last year I bought, on sale and on clearance, my little Snow Family and this year they are living under my tree. I LOVE them. They are so cute.
I can usually get all my Christmas decorating done in one day but this year it took me three days. In between being sick and just getting older and slower I didn't think I would ever get through. Now that it up we are really enjoying it. Love to sit at night with only the Christmas lights on. So many memories start rolling in. Christmas makes me feel like a kid again.

Outdoors Man

My son-in-law, Daniel went camping out last night with some of his buddies from work. I haven't talked to them today to see how he weather the cold last night. Actually I had no idea that camping was anything that Daniel was even remotely interested in. Come to find out.......he LOVES it.
Knowing this now gives me some possible ideas for Christmas. While surfing the web I came across this website called, Maxpedition Gear. I have been looking thru their web-site and they have got some really nice camping gear. I am a sucker for back-packs. I have several myself and one that I use as a purse sometimes.

Precious Memories!

As long as I can remember my Mom always put up a little Christmas Village. When I was little I would just stand there and look at it forever. I would pretend that it was a real village with real people and I was part of it. I still have pretty much most of it and over the years I have added to it and so this year I only used several pieces of Mama's little village. I didn't have enough room to display all of it with all that I have collected and I feel a little sadness in my heart so I vow that next year it ALL will be displayed. That is the way I've always meant it to be. I love mixing the old with the new. That's how memories are made and treasured.

Danny's baby is a '77 corvette. Right now she is primed gray, waiting for a long awaited paint job.
Danny LOVES to take her out and give her the gas. Normally he drives like a old man but.........not in his Vet! Sometimes I'll get my headscarf and we will take off for a cruise and it's alot of fun. When he takes off my head is pushed back into the seat back. Can't imagine what it will be like after it has a supercharger put on it. FLU!!

I had plans today to go out to eat lunch with some friends to celebrate a birthday and then come home to put up my Christmas decorations. Yesterday I got up feeling bad and as the day wore on it got worse. By bedtime I was running a fever. My normal temp is around 97.0 to 97.6 but it was bumping 100 last night. I told Danny that with a fever I was contagious and I opted to sleep in the spare room, aka Mercy's room. I had researched the symptoms of the flu and I had them all. In order to go to sleep I had to take a xanax, 2 Excedrin PM and one of those Night-time Theraflu things that melt on your tongue. I went to sleep around 11:00pm, woke up around 3am and took 2 more Excedrin PM, surfed the web awhile then went back to bed. I slept till around 9am. My throat is really sore. Water taste like medicine and I am a major water drinker. Coke is all I want.
I did accomplish getting all the wash done up, folded and put away.

Maybe the tree and all will get up tomorrow.

I had my eyes checked several months ago and I am still carrying around the prescription for some well needed new glasses but I just haven't had the money. I know several people who have bought glasses from Zenni Optical and they are very impressed with the quality of their workmanship and the low prices. Go look at their selection of eyeglasses. They start as low as $8.00. Talk about saving money! That would save me several hundred dollars. I am seriously going to order me a pair as soon as the holidays are over if not before. Yesterday, Black Friday, Crystal and I left the house at 3am in order to be at Kohl's when they opened their doors at 4am.. We got some really great bargains there. Can't post pictures of those because they are gifts. From there we went up the highway to meet my sister, Diane and her daughter, Laurie at Belk to be one of the first customers in the door to get a gift card ranging from $5 to $5000. We all got a $5 gift card so we all scoured the store for the best bargains. I headed for the linen department to see if there were any clearances on towels or sheets. I found a table with some beautiful towels that were regular $25.00 each marked on red dot for $5.99. I got two of them and after my $5.oo gift card they cost me $8.06. That is $50.00 worth of luxurious LENOX towels for $8.06. These are MINE!! HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!!!

Laurie had to go get her little hubby and do some shopping with him so Diane went with Crystal and I so we decided to stop at McDonald's for a well needed breakfast and then on to Target. We got there just minutes before they opened their doors at 6am and there were people lined up around the side of the building and back to the front. I LOVE IT!! So much fun. We made a mad dash for some items for my other sister, Renee, who was at another Target on the other side of town, but then after we got them in hand we called her only to find out that she also got them. :(
OH well, I recon I needed the exercise. Crystal and I lost Diane in the mad rush and we found out that she was over in the stationary reading Christmas cards. LOL

From there we went across the street to Michaels and then onto The Avenue. We all had a Avenue coupon to receive two sweaters at $5.00 each. They were regular $19.99. Great buy. We all found us two each.

We then headed across town to meet back up with Laurie and hit Wal-Mart. CRAZINESS!! Thankfully we didn't have the tragedy that they did in New York at that Wal-Mart. That was so sad. People just get crazy.

Diane and Laurie took off to Big Lots and I took Crystal to the Mall so she could go into Macy's to use a $10 off $25 coupon. I could not find a parking place so I just let her out and I cruised the parking lot till she came out. I don't miss shopping at those BIG malls.

Next we were off to meet back up with Diane, Laurie and also Renee with three of her four girls, Jamie, Amber, Donna and another friend/relative Jessie at Hobby Lobby. The only thing I bought there was a big roll of wrapping paper at 50% off. From there Renee and her crew went to the Mall and the rest of us decided to go eat some lunch at a Chinese buffet. So good. After we ate we walked next door to Tuesday Morning and we all had 50% off a clearance item coupons so I scoured the clearance racks and found another great big thick towel, regular $19.99 on clearance for $6.99 and with the 50% off I paid $3.50 for it. Then Crystal found the cutest Teapot for me which was regular $24.99 clearanced for $6.99 and I paid $3.50 for it as well. HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY.

Our last stop together was to Olde Time Pottery where I found me two throw pillows for my sofa for $1.99 each. Crystal and I left Diane and Laurie after that and we were all exhausted. On the way home I had to make one more stop at my FAVORITE store CVS to pick up a prescription and a $25.00 gift card for a prescription transfer.

Finally made it home around 3:00 pm or so, took a shower and crashed the sofa.

It was a GREAT day!

Thanks to CVS, I now have a NEW camera. I got the Kodak Easyshare C713 and after coupons and ECB's it cost me only $4.94 OOP!! Now I will be able to blog with pictures again. I am sooooo excited and I LOVE my new little camera.

A Soldier's Silent Night!

Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone,
In a one bedroom house made of plaster and stone.
I had come down the chimney with presents to give,
And just to see who in this home did live.
I looked all about, a strange sight I did see,
No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stocking by the mantel,
just boots filled with sand,
On the wall hung pictures, of far distant lands.
With medals and badges, awards of all kinds,
A sober thought came through my mind.
For this house was different, it was dark and dreary.
I found the home of a soldier, once I could see clearly.
The soldier lay sleeping, silent, alone,
Curled up on the floor in this one bedroom home.
The face was so gentle,
the room in such disorder,
Not how I pictured a United States soldier.
Was this the hero of whom I’d just read?
Curled up on a poncho, the floor for a bed?
I realized the families that I saw this night,
Owed their lives to these soldiers who were willing to fight.
Soon round the world, the children would play,
And grownups would celebrate a bright Christmas day.
They all enjoyed freedom each month of the year,
Because of the soldiers, like the one lying here.
I couldn’t help wonder how many lay alone,
On a cold Christmas eve in a land far from home.
The very thought brought a tear to my eye,
I dropped to me knees and started to cry;
The soldier awakened and I heard a rough voice,
“Santa don’t cry, this life is my choice;
I fight for freedom, I don’t ask for more,
My life is my God, my Country, my Corps.
”The soldier rolled over and drifted to sleep,
I couldn’t control it, I continued to weep.
I kept watch for hours, so silent and still,
And we both shivered from the cold night’s chill.
I didn’t want to leave on that cold, dark, night,
This guardian of honor so willing to fight.
Then the soldier rolled over, with a voice soft and pure,
Whispered, “Carry on Santa, it’s Christmas day, all is secure.”
One look at my watch, and I knew he was right.

“Merry Christmas my friend, God Bless you this night.”

Treatment Centers

I have never had a drug or alcohol problem even though I did smoke a little marijuana and do a little social drinking back in the days. The only addiction I had or have is FOOD!!
I came across this place called Promises Treatment Centers. They are rehab facilities where people can go to receive help with alcohol and drug addictions. I have never personally known anyone with these problems but if I did I would recommend they check into this place for some professional help.

They have a Center in Malibu and one in West LA. The one in Malibu is nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains with a view of the Pacific Ocean and the one in West LA in near Beverly Hills. Sounds pretty awesome.

The other day I posted about my washer dying on me, well the day after our friend came over to look at it, I decided to give it another try. I have washed about ten loads of clothes in it and she is as good as NEW!! God answers prayers in places I don't expect Him to. I think He has bigger things to take care of and that is why He is God and not me.

Work Boots

My husband is in Ornamental Iron and he has to wear work boots because of handling , welding and installing huge heavy pieces of iron. He has worn out several pair in the last couple years and is in great need of some new ones. We are having a hard time finding some that fit his foot just right to be comfortable and well as durable. I came across this website for work boots and it looks very promising. He really likes this pair pictured above. They are steel toed which is very important in his line of work.

MAYTAG ?

I have several sewing projects going on right now so yesterday I decided to set my sewing machine up on my dining room table so that I could be closer to the laundry room to begin my weekly washing. If I get to sewing in the sewing/computer room I sorta forget about the wash and it takes forever to get it finished.
I started a small load of a couple of fragile pieces in the wash and while it was rinsing I decided to go check my email. I was on the computer for about 30 minutes when I started smelling something burning. At first I thought that it may be my computer. Then I turned to look out into the hall way and I could see smoke. I jump up and start searching and trying to find the source while thinking what to haul out of the house first or should I call the fire department. I follow the smoke and smell thru the house to the laundry room where my furnace is also. I couldn't tell at first where it was coming from. I lifted the lid on my washer and it was still full of water and was not making any sound. I checked the knob, pushed and pulled on it and nothing happened. My heart is racing as fast as my mind. I immediately unplug the washer, and I turned and checked the breaker box to see it maybe the breaker had switched off.
I called Danny and we were trying to figure out what to do and decided to call a good friend of ours to come and check it out. I have about 5 or 6 loads of clothes to wash and my machine, a MAYTAG which is only 3 1/2 years old decides she doesn't want to work anymore. GGRRRR!!
The friend of ours gets here right after Danny gets home and he says that the motor and transmission both have just burned up. I google Maytag (you know the one where the service man has nothing to do because MAYTAG supposedly NEVER Breaks down?) to see if there had been any recalls on this particular washer and there hadn't been but .............there were at lot of people who had the same problem with this same washer having the motor and transmission burn up. They all came from Home Depot, just like mine did. I called Maytag and Home Depot to see if there was anything that could be done from either of them, for instance fixing it or swapping it out and they both came back with a Big Fat NO!!!
I guess I'll get down my little scrub board that I have displayed on top of my kitchen cupboard and start scrubbing. I refuse to haul all this laundry to the laundrymat.
Does anyone have a GOOD washer they don't need anymore? If so , give me a holler!!

My Birthday Week!

This past Wednesday I celebrated my 57th Birthday. We have been living for the past year and a half to two years without a sofa in our living room. All we had was two huge recliners (one for me and one for Danny) and I have been nearly begging for one far a while now. I decided to look on Craigs List and I found two that I liked. My first choice was a maroon leather sofa and so I emailed the owner and by the end of the next day I hadn't heard back from them so I found another sofa. The second one was a Floral tapestry which was my second choice. We decided to go look at it and we brought her home. Later that night I got a response from the owner of the leather sofa and I felt physically sick.........because that was the one I wanted. I pondered over it all night and the next day I contacted the owner and she came off the price by 30%. I got Danny to go look at it and we brought her home too. I am soooo HAPPY!! The floral one was my Birthday present from Danny and the leather one was from me to me. Now we have wall to wall sitting space.

Saturday after making our CVS run Crystal and I decided to go do a little shopping. We went to TJMaxx , we went to O'Charlie's where Crystal treated me to lunch, THANKS Crystal, then we went over to J C Penny's. They had alot of things maked on clearance. We got to looking around and Crystal spotted a lamp still in the box which was regular $260 marked down to $19.99. I grabbed it because I NEED lamps really badly. I went over to where the other lamps were and found the mate to this one as well. JCPenny's also had a coupon for $10 off $50 so I found me a set of $95 king size sheets on clearance for $19.99 as well. I came home with $615.00 worth of merchandise for $54.77.

We rushed home unloaded everything and I had to quickly jump in the shower because I was being took out for a second time that day by two of my AWESOME friends....Beth and Renee! They treated me to dinner at the place of my choice which was Olive Garden. THANKS Girls!
After we ate we came back to my house for a rip-roaring game of Scrabble and cheese cake thanks to Beth!

Crystal and Daniel are giving me a new bird feeder for my front yard also. Can't wait. I LOVE to sit out on my front porch swing and watch the birds.

It has been a truly AWESOME Birthday week.

My niece, Bonnie, is a nurse at a local Children's Hospital and recently was given the opportunity to go to Honduras and work at a Orphanage there. She asked for donations of clothes and toiletries etc. for them to take to bless these children with. I went to my CVS stash and filled several bags with goodies and then I decided to send five little dresses that I had recently made for my grand-daughter that I think she may have wore once each and she quickly outgrew.
Bonnie came home with stories of how excited these little girls were to get these dresses and it just filled my heart with JOY! She also told of a little Downs boy who she gave a Power Rangers toothbrush to that I sent as well and how excited he was to have it. I was overwhelmed with emotions when I saw these pictures. How BLESSED we are!
She is planning on going back some time this winter I think and I'm hoping to have some more things made to send with her. What a BLESSING it is to be able to be a part of this.

Sitting here tonight, surfing the web, I came across my most favorite toy as a child: my Betsy Wetsy doll. I think I got her for Christmas in 1956. I had just turned 5 in September.
My baby had black curly hair that was so soft. I can still remember the feel of it. My Mamaw (my Mother's Mom) made me and my baby matching red velvet coats and my baby a hat. She used this same exact pattern to make the coat and hat for my doll and mine was exactly like it as well. She made my doll a whole new wardrobe that Santa delivered when he delivered my baby. I don't know what happened to my doll. She probably got loved to death. I can remember when my second baby sister was born in 1958, the first time I saw her, I thought she looked just like my Betsy Wetsy doll. I wish I still had my baby doll. I would make her some new clothes. I also found a web-site that has one still in the box in mint condition and she is on sale for over $800.00.

I LOVE CVS and I Praise Jesus for the opportunity I have been given thru CVS to save mega bucks for my family. I am able to use products that I was never able to afford to use before and I am always giving products away. I just get a little frustrated with the fact that every store, every manager, every clerk has their own way of doing things. They all have coupons they will or will not except, whether they beep or not. There are some that will bend over backwards and jump hurdles to push coupons thru and there are some that will not bend an inch. They all work for the same company....CVS. My mind is in over-drive with figuring scenarios, pulling coupons and figuring out how to get the most bang for the buck before I hit the register. Try to hit the register when there is no line and hopefully no other customers in the store so I don't wind up holding the line up and frustrating those who don't take advantage of the Extra Bucks Program and also try to learn the cashiers as to what coupons they will take and in what order. I have a new CVS just about 1.5 miles from my house and it depends on whose on duty as to how long I shop. My favorite store is about 7 miles frommy home and as long as that manager stays there they will continue to get the majority of my business. I even take them home-made goodies to show my appreciation for all their help.

Missin' my knittin'!

I haven't knitted anything in almost 3 months and didn't realize how much I missed it until today.

My brother-in-law had open heart surgery this morning and so we had a huge family gathering at the hospital during his surgery. I carried my tote bag with some yarn, knitting needles, crochet hook, my Bible, a novel, a couple Christian magazines, protein bars, bottle of water and a pair of socks. You would have thought that I was there to stay a while. The only thing I pulled out of my bag was the water of course, took two bites off one protein bar, read a chapter in Isaiah and took out my knitting needles and yarn and played with it for a while. At first I got a little panicked because I sorta forgot how to cast on and I know several ways to do it but it took me a few minutes for it to come to me. Don't like that. Once I got started it was smooth sailing and I didn't realize till then how much I missed it. I LOVE to work with my hands. So relaxing. Since my cabinets and closets are stock-piled from CVS I can stop obsessing on CVS and get back to knitting. Not saying I won't CVS at least once a week, as a matter of fact I went today on the way home from the hospital, just won't be working on scenerios all the time. My brain needs a little vacation: some good ole knittin' time!

Busy, Busy Busy!

Last week my sister and I left on Monday to go down to Auburn to do some major-minor decorating for her son, my nephew Chad, at his little place there in Auburn where he will be living for the next 5 years or so while in College. He is using a sectional sofa that she has had since she got married over 25 years ago. He is big into hunting and they decided to cover it (cushions only, exactly 13 of them) in a water repellent camo. My first thought was: WHAT!!!

We got down there sometime after lunch and after unloading the car we went shopping to buy all the materials and things we needed for the job. Our plans were to have it done and be headed home on Wednesday. By the time we got all that accomplished and stopped for a wonderful supper at my favorite, Cracker Barrel (Thanks Diane!) it was too late to get started on the upholstering.
The next day Diane helped me cut, I sewed them together, slipped them on, pinned the ends together and Diane and Chad shared in the final stitching. Diane had her fingers wrapped in duct-tape and her needle got crooked in the process of being pushed thru that fabric and it looked like she was sewing with a fishing hook. She also had a pair of pliers to help pull the needle thru.

By about 9pm we knew that we weren't gonna be finished in order to leave to come home Wednesday so we decided to stay till Thursday or as long as we needed too in order to get it finished.

By the end of our en devour we covered both porch chairs, the three piece sectional (all 13 cushions), and made curtains for 5 windows. I have to admit that it looked really good. It looks like a little hunting lodge which is perfect for Chad. I even think his sister, Laurie, is gonna like it. We did GOOD!!

Thursday evening I met up with a friend who has a daughter going to Alabama and brought me 9 huge cushions to recover for her sofa that she will be using while she is in college. I worked on those Friday and Saturday and they looked awesome as well. So I have a sofa at Auburn and one at Alabama.

Between all that sewing and making my much loved trips to CVS my house is in a great need of some love and care. That is what I'm focusing on this week as well as getting my coupons clipped and organized.

I'm gonna be out of town for a couple of days so Danny and I went to the store to pick up a roast for me to throw in the crock-pot so he will have something good to eat when he gets home from work. The price of those roast was high enough to make you not want any. Didn't want to buy a half a cow just a roast. We decided on a pot of spaghetti instead until we went up the canned meat isle and I found something even better...........Aunt Bea from Mayberry. She's gonna be here to make sure Danny has something good to eat. Can't get no better than that, but I did make him a pot of spaghetti and he has plenty of peanut butter, boiled eggs....you know all that good protein stuff! :) When we got home and got to looking at the can of Beef Stew we got we found it has a little trivia on each can. I came in here and looked up the web-site and it is really cute especially for those Andy Griffith fans like us. Go here to check out their web-site. Right out front of my living room window is a Dogwood tree and several days ago Danny noticed a nest in it. He noticed it when a female cardinal flew to it. We have been watching it and yesterday we noticed two little heads popping up with their little beaks open and the the Mama flew into feed them. I have watched several nest of babies birds around our house in the last several years but it never ceases to amaze me. I am in total AWE when watching God's little creatures take care of their own.

Yesterday I was out doing a little shopping with my coupons and while in Food World I noticed they had all of their Pantene Shampoo and Conditioners on for $1.99 with your Food World Card. I had 2 of the $1.50 off one Pantene item so that meant they would be $.49 each. HELLO!! I grabbed a third one for good measure because this stuff is usually $4.99 each. When I went to check out they rang up $4.99 each and I immediately told the cashier that they were on sale $1.99. He agreed with me and said that he had just been back there to check for another customer. I told him that I had just read on-line that at Publix if you catch them ring something up at the wrong price that their policy says you get it FREE!! He said that he knew that and that Kroger does the same thing. He had to call the manager over to fix the over charge so we asked her if she would honor Publix policy.......she laughed and said no but that she would let me have one of them free and she fixed the other two to where they were $1.99 each. So after my free bottle and my 2 $1.50 mq., I got $14.97 worth (3 bottles) Pantene Conditioner for $.98!!!

I am still searching for some new glasses. Money is tight and I am having to be very very frugal in my shopping for my new glasses. Normally I would have gone right next door to my eye doctor and have already picked my frames out before I had my eye exam. They always dilate my eys so it makes it almost impossible to choose frames afterwards. This time I knew we were in a money crunch so I held off and am trying to find them on-line and save some major money.

I am still looking at zennioptical.com to find my frames. They have a wide selection. Here are a few more that I have found that I think are cute. One pair even looks like a pair that Crystal would wear.

I think I like the top pair but the pink ones keep drawing me in. Give me your opinion!

Stem Cell Research?

When the topic of Stem Cell Research was ever on the news I was always interested to hear what they had to say and also in limbo on what I thought about it. I never like the idea of using what society calls a fetus, what I call a unborn BABY, being used in stem cell research because that is a living breathing human being and as a Christian, I believe that taking the life of an unborn baby for research or any other reason was and awful sin. I was surfin' the web and came across the neatest web-site: 1001 USES FOR VINEGAR!

I am tired of having my white turning gray and when I wash my dark items they have this white soap residue all over them. According to this web-site you can add 1/2 cup of distilled vinegar to your final rinse cycle and it will rid your whites of the graying and the dark clothing from the residue. It also says that your clothes come out softer, fluffier and smelling fresher.

Instead of buying fabric softener I'm gonna give distilled vinegar a try and see. Can't hurt and it will be cheaper too. I'm all for cheaper. : )

New Glasses!

I was told about 3 years ago by my Eye Doctor that I had the beginnings of cataracts in both of my eyes and that in five years of so that I could have them removed and that surgery would not only take care of the cataracts but it would correct my vision as well. I have been wearing glasses since I was 7 years old. When she told me that, I was so excited. The thought of being able to purchase a pair of those non-prescription sunglasses excites me to no end. I've never been able to do that.
This past Wednesday I had to go for my eye exam because it has been about 3 years and I was sorta hoping that she would tell me that I was a good candidate for that cataract surgery, but.........................she didn't. She did say that they had progressed some and that I did need a new prescription. Well with the price that I have to pay for my glasses that was not good news right now. My glasses normally cost around $500 because of all the different things I have to have. I came across zennioptical.com and I am going to see about ordering my glasses form them. I believe I can save a lot of money. LOVE that!!

L.A. GEAR

I just came across this website called L.A. GEAR. They have some very interesting things on there. The web name might make you think that they only sell to cops but that is not the case at all. L.A. Gear was founded by Los Angeles area Police officers and the business has grown and changed so much over the years that they now serve the general public, military personnel, security professionals and of course police officers.
I searched through some of the things they have and I found a nice little flashlight that I wouldn't mind having to keep in my purse. They have quite a selection of things on clearance and there is even a 4th of July sale going on.
I have a nephew over in Iraq and I'm sure that he is being protected by wearing one of the Blackhawk tactical vest that they sale on L.A.GEAR. With the way gas prices keep going up and the cost of living is sky rocketing we may just have to start thinking Survival mode and this is one web-site that can help equip you in that direction.

Last week Publix had Bryers Ice Cream, BOGO free so I got Danny his favorite Vanilla and I got me the Carb Smart, Rocky Road. Last night I got it out to eat some(I eat out of the carton since it's all for me) and I thought, "Hum, this carton seems to be smaller!" I look at the top and where it is suppose to say 1/2 gallon or 2 quarts it says 1.5 quarts. Today on the news I heard them say that they are down sizing the ice cream and the rolls of paper towels. Instead of raising the price they are just making you pay the same price for a smaller quantity.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I LOVE my computer and surfing the web. In the last several months I was introduced to CVS and their ECB (Extra Credit Bucks) Program and in doing so I have followed along with several blogs and I came across one that had a logo on it called Pay Per Post! My interest in Pay Per Post was immediate and through my researching it I found that it is considered as blog marketing. I decided to sign up and see what kind of money I could make to help out with our income. Last night I finally got my blog set up and I have decided to give it all I have to make this work. As we all know the economy doesn't seem to be working for us but against us right now and with much prayer behind this I am in the race to win. I think I can make some decent money to help my husband pay our bills and even put some money aside for retirement. I think that is a concern for all or most of the people my age and younger.
I have made several new friends through Pay Per Post and have learned that they really enjoy it alot.

CVS Fever!!

I haven't been in a CVS store since Sunday and it's getting to me. I feel the need to feel some of those ECB's in my hands. I'm gonna have to work up a few scenarios and visit my favorite store in the next day or two. I finally found places to put all my goodies I brought home from the last two trips.

Today Danny and I went to put his Corvette in the shop and while we were out I decided to make a run to my favorite CVS store!!! I had $9.00 ECB's and I had written up a scenario to where I could put a little OOP with that and turn those $9.00 ECB's into more than $25.00 ECB's.

Very tired but.........very HAPPY!!

Crystal and I headed out today to our new favorite little local town and we stumbled upon a new favorite place to eat. We love sushi (Not raw folks......misconception. I'm not eating anything raw unless it is fruit or vegetable) and we found the greatest little treasure. 'Lucky China and Sushi Bar'! We sat at the Sushi Bar and watched them make our sushi rolls FRESH!! I have eat Sushi at several places but none has ever been able to compare to this. I could not eat without MMMM'n the whole time! OH MY GOSH!! I am droolin' right now just thinkin' about it. Our little Sushi Chef had the biggest grin on his face. They will be seeing alot of Crystal and I. They have a buffet also and take-out as well. I am so EXCITED. This beats fast-food anyday and it is cheaper and alot healthier too.

After we ate we hit our 4 favorite stores: CVS, Walgreens, Publix (BOGO) and Winn-Dixie (BOGO)!

I came home with: CVS: $95.21 worth of merchandise my OOP $21.57 and $25.98 ECB's!!!!!
Walgreens: $48.63 worth of merchandise my OOP $19.34
Publix: $100.21 worth of FOOD my OOP $49.46
Winn Dixie: $229.77 worth of FOOD my OOP $145.01
My Total Bought: $473.82 My Total OOP: $235.38

Since I started shopping at CVS and Walgreens I don't have to buy anything at the grocery stores but FOOD! All edible. HALLELUJAH!!! I walk past those aisles with a HUGE smile on my face. I don't have to shop Wal-Mart anymore unless there is something that I just really can't find anywhere else and I know they have it or if I'm in the neighborhood and want to drop in.
