Good Grief! Anyone can twist whatever they want to make money. I would be emotionally distressed too, if I were living in sin (any sin, mind you) & deep in my heart knew it & didn't want to admit the Bible was actually correct. The thought of spending eternity in hell, would drive anyone crazy.
